Why do people get in such a huff when someone harvests bass? They’re nowhere near endangered, which is one reason I would completely understand someone getting upset about keeping a certain species of fish. One of the main arguments I’ve heard is “they’re fun to catch” which just doesn’t make sense and is an invalid argument IMO. So are salmon, trout, and crappie, and no one flips about those. They aren’t pulling fish off of YOUR hook and then taking them home and cooking them up. They caught them fair and square, and as long as that body of water allows you harvesting bass, in my eyes there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it. I’d really like to hear from anyone why they have a problem with it to get a better understanding.

Don’t mama bass have like 1000 eggs. Once my cousin caught a bass and while gutting it he found out it was pregnant we put the eggs back in the water hopefully we didn’t commit a genocide but bass basically produce a lot of baby’s.

But that goes back to one of my original points, LMB are no where near endangered in any way. If a body of water allows you to harvest bass then the population is fine.

I fine with harvest of any type of fish up to a certain size. I hate when trophy sized fish get harvested.

I agree with harvesting. Some people do not like the taste of bass but I find them to be very tasty. I will always put trophy sized back and I will only keep a few, "1or2" for eating, say 12" to 15".
I fish to eat fish. Bass are no exception. If you want to catch bass and throw them back in, fine go ahead. I even do that with bluegill and crappie if I got enough to clean. I think it's a farce that people think you have to throw all bass back in. They get that baloney from TV shows. Those TV fishermen don't have any reason to keep those fish they're just taping a show. To me bass are a good tasting fish.
