I like a squeeze of lemon with mine to counterbalance the marinade

When you cook the fish, don't rinse it first. Shake and wipe of excess marinade with paper towel. The coating has a level of sweetness but the cod is an oily fish so it doesn't really penetrate even with 2-3 days of marinating.

That's a good point. I hadn't factored in the oiliness of the sable.

Halibut, we live in Alaska, have been here 38 yrs. Time to put a house on wheels and come below and eat the good fish, panfish and walleye 👍👍😂

Saying you are from Alaska is like saying you are from the lower 48. What part?

Ok….I’m gonna put it out to all of you: if you could have only one fish to eat for the rest of your life, would it be king salmon or halibut? If neither one of these choices appeal to you, feel free to name another species.😎🦀🐟

Neither one. My first choice is a Norfolk Spot, the second choice is a Wahoo. Sorry, I could not stop t one choice,

I lived in Eagle River back in the 70's. I used to moose hunt between Wasilla and the little Sue. A much different place back then. I would get my annual moose in what would now be considered in town.

In my household, salmon is "king". Lots of different ways to prepare it. But the main "kicker" is that it is a more healthy fish to eat for the omegas our body needs.

And like mentioned before, halibut is kinda tasteless. You have to "add" the taste.

Hello Runandgun….I get you…The main reason I prefer halibut is that I can prepare it so many ways…halibut does have a distinct but not strong flavor if not over/cooked. I love king salmon but prefer to prepare it in a way that does not detract from its unique flavor: place a filet on a cedar plank and on the bar-b, add salt, pepper and lemon….done!

Totally concur (only I can't resist adding a sprinkle of garlic powder and then a bit of butter just at the end)...that was what I had for dinner last night, along with some potatoes, mushrooms and broccoli on the grill....mmmm, my favorite meal !

All this food talk is making me extremely hungry, and I just finished eating lunch! Maybe Admin would consider creating a separate category titled Recipes where stagers can upload their favorites?
