Interested in mid to late fishing
You can drive toward the Bon Tempe dam but turn right before and go toward Alpine. A short distance and you can park and fish the very upper end of Lake Alpine. From there you can drive toward the dam but have to pick your spots carefully I've read. Or start at Alpine Dam and walk right or drive up left of the dam, etc..l Check out a Satellite map for pullouts and hiking areas, etc.. Fishing might be best late afternoon to dark.
Thanks for the info. My son and I are planning a trip to Alpine Lake and have never fished in CA. Originally from NY.

Beautiful lake, great scenery. Fishing for planter size rainbow can be good. Mepps spinners, rooster tails and little Cleo’s are a good choice for lures. Powerbait and night crawlers are effective baits. Lake has very clear water. Use 4lb. Test line and ultra light gear. Call ahead for trout planting schedules. Can be great a day or two after a plant. Can get a little windy in the afternoon and a bit chilly in the evening (7000 ft elevation) Check out their website. Lake Alpine lodge has great accommodations if you’re looking for a place to stay. Hope this helps. Good luck and enjoy fishing with your son. Nothing better!!!
Thanks for the information. This is great and Mike and I are really looking to the trip. Been awhile since our last.
Again thanks.
Ps we're staying at the lodge
I was up at Bon Tempe and Lagunitas last week. Water was a bit low and warm. Not my many places to fish.
Still beautiful.
Stockers in high alpine lakes🫢
We recently moved to Murphys, down the mountains a ways from Alpine. Briefly visited the lake last week, but haven’t had a chance to fish there yet. Please give us a report later on how you do. Cheers.
