My uncle had the pleasure of meeting him at his place of employment. He used to work at the Concord hotel in upstate New York. He said that he was a pleasant and regular guy. If you saw the movie "Dirty Dancing" it was a snippet of what the area was like. A lot of the comedians that most of us on here grew up with would go from hotel to hotel in a circuit type fashion. Guys like Buddy Hackett, Henny Youngman, Jan Murray, Rodney Dangerfield and too many others to list here. They used to call it the "Borscht Belt" because of the beet-based soup that was a staple there. I don't know if Mr. Skelton was ever a performer there, but this meeting was later in his life and may just have been visiting and the Concord was one of the biggest and still standing hotels.

Yes and most of those hotels hired orchestras. I played up there a couple of times back in the 80s
That must have been fun. Of course, by then I am thinking that a lot had changed. I always wondered what a mess it was for hotel guests up there in August of 1969. There was a "little" musical event going on down the road!

My family also watched and loved Red Skelton. My Dad would do imitations of Klem Kadiddlehopper,

I loved the Red Skelton show. Heโs the only comic Iโve seen that never used curse words or foul language in his shows and heโs so funny without it.

I always loved his Klem Kadiddlehopper skits. His Freddy the Freeloader ones were good also. We sure could use someone of Red's ilk in today's humor.
Great one Hack

He was used to intertan the UN. As he did it all without talking, they all understood his act. And Laughed!

He was an awesome man. I wish there were entertainers like they were back then.
