Went carping in 86 degree Colonial Lake this evening on a hot, humid, cloudy day with a light south wind and nearby flooding thunderstorms. Threw out a can of corn 🌽 for chum, then caught and released two bluegills and a 14.25” brown bullhead with corn bait on 12 lb test line. I’m applying for my fifth NJ Skillful Angler Recognition Award πŸ₯‡ for this year with the catfish.

Nice catch on that brown bullhead. It looks like he ate the whole can of corn before biting your hook...nice and plump! Congrats on those skillful angler awards...you most definitely deserve them!

I think they should give you a new Mitchell 300, but I don't think they make them anymore. I don't think they have made them for many years.

I bought my Mitchell 300 in the early 50s when they first came out. I paid $32.95 for it at Graham & Mcgoria in Winona, MN. Money that I had made from selling helgramites at $.50 a doz. and nightcrawlers for $.25 a doz.
