Sorry guys. I am not on board. I think it would be fun. Not the same, but still fun. Like live sonar, it is a different game, but again I think that would be fun. As for the forward looking sonar, I sure wish I had one for navigating from Maine to Florida back in the pre GPS days. The ICW shallow water was not always where it belonged due to tugs and silting. My sailboat had 6 foot draft and was not really that forgiving.
On the reality side, I can not keep the drone and chopper I have from crashing on a regular basis in the back yard. Flying it over water would go way beyond my budget. Like I recently said. It is a new world. As an addition; Who am I to say if the tech. changes are good or bad. Our grandkids will refer to today as the good old days when it took skill to catch fish consistently. That doesn't even address the grandkids talking about back in the day (today) when there were so many public places to fish fee free.
Amen to that. Keep an eye out for the warden brother..lol

Steve once I start fishing I glance at my finder to check depth if I can't see bottom.
I normally fish shallow.
Shore line n docks if i find them.
If I had a couple grand to waste I'd get a new trolling motor π.

I'm thinking this is more about an individual choice vs a global ethical one. Which is just fine with me because I always know where my greatest amount of control lies.

Happy belated 4th everyone. Hope you had sn amazing day with friends and family. I sure did.
As I predicted here on the Stage, new technology is available for purchase at partyaura.com. A floating drone with a deployable camera that not only is depth adjustable you can rotate it 360 degrees. All operated from your boat with a controller with your smartphone attached to view the camera. The floating drone is self propelled from the same controller. I'd say it's as close as possible to change fishing into catching. Who is in and who is out?

Not this guy! Just me and my pole and the bank! To each their own! Sounds like itβs just another fish finder. I like not knowing. Good luck and be safe!
Totally agree.we as angelers have to draw a line sometime.( we might as well have someone swim down hook a fish for you and text you you when done.).

Now that would be good viewing, I'd love to see some body swim up to and hook a fish this way. This drone would be lost after one use for me anyway so i'll stick with my current skunk method. But i'd give a guy $2000.00 if he could stick a hook in a fish under water.
Holly Crap, just go to the store and by a damn fish!
I'd prefer a radio controlled boat with a transducer on it to locate fish from shore or boat without spooking them. Also locate bottom structure or drop offs to fish around.

Interesting you mention that. I used a radio control boat to fish back in the 70's. I found out it was illegal even then. No, it was not fishing in the conventional manner, but it sure was fun. That being said, It did not stop me from conventional fishing any more than the current electronics stop me from chasing trout with a fly rod in a sit on top kayak decked out with nothing but me, my paddle, a pocket tackle box, fly rod and reel, life jacket, net and stringer.
Fishing is what you make it.
Oh I'm definitely in if it changes my odds..txs for the tip.
