Finally got out with my cousin Larry. Had a hard time the 1st day out. Only managed 4 keepers. Small Mouth had tight lips that day. 2nd day made it to the Umpqua, lots of smaller fish. We caught 60 fish or so. Did get a number of keeper SM, got a couple nice BlueGill, and he caught his PB Large Mouth. No monster, but still his best. His Friends sure gave him the business on his picture, asked if he could stick his arms out any Farther! ๐๐๐Last day we found the SM wanted to play a bit more. Released a few smaller ones, but had a limit in just a few hours. Scenery was great everyday, and I had a Fun time fishing with him. Got home today, and packaged 15 meals of fish to enjoy in the coming months.
Poor Resivoire is down about 35โ
Beautiful water
Have No idea what this was
Umpqua River
Me and a couple eaters
1st BlueGill Iโve caught in years
Fishing buddy
Larryโs PB, 2.2lb lm
That's some beautiful Country you are fishing in! Nice story highlighting the results of having spent some quality time with your cousin and catching fish along the way! Thank you for the post and photos!
I wonder if that concrete oddity was some sort of "lunker structure" put in place many years ago?!

He is quite a guy. Been through Hell and made it back. Vietnam Veteran and he is a fishing Veteran now!! He fishes 3 to 4 days a week. He likes it fresh when ever possible. I wish I lived a little closer to him.

Sorry Jar, thatโs Lookout Resivoire, they are trying to drain it out as much as possible this year, to get rid of as many Bass and walleye out of it as they can. Some new plan to put more Salmon in there. They think the salmon will run up the river and spawn ๐ค

Nice that you two could get out. Nice pics. That looks kinda like an oven. Iโm not sure if someone would make something like that for a linker structure but again who would make an oven out there. My curiosity would have gotten the best of me. I would have found somewhere to put in and check it out more closely.

Might try that if I get back up there and itโs dry. My prosthetic leg gives me a hard time on slick footing and rock, for that matter All uneven terrain. That Oven idea is not a Bad one. The dam they put in there years ago backed up water along way up that Canyon. ๐ค

Yeah I hear ya. Hell if I fall down I sometimes have a hard time getting up and I donโt have a prosthetic leg. Just getting old. Tight lines.

I'm in the same boat as you. LOL
My first thought was a smoker/oven for salmon or other fishes. I believe the lake is named for the
Umpqua Nation of Native Americans. Really cool looking. I would be curios to see what it is made of.
Beautiful scenery Ruff,thanks for sharing.
Thanks to cousin Larry for his service
