No not every lake. The majority of lakes that are very stringent are lakes that are considered drinking water reservoirs. Went to lake Sonoma last week with my 2 stoke motor. Had to pass pre-launch inspection. They did a quick visual inspection of my outboard motor and hull looking for any signs of mussels affixed to my lower unit and hull. Passed inspection and was allowed to launch.

Right , eventually the 2 stroke will be disallowed here in Cali. I'll never understand what that matters to Tennessee Andy ? I never here the best Fisherman in Tennessee Complain about what happens here, California is a Big State unlike yours,,,, just sayin

It has to do with the Bay Area air resources board. There are new regulations for diesel engines and outboard engines. The fishing fleet in the Bay Area must comply with the new regulations as of January 1, 2022. If they cannot appeal the ruling, they will have to repower the fishing fleet. Check out the Bay Area air resources board website. I’m not an expert but I know that the regulations are changing.

Sad to say these new regulations are crazy , why don't they worry about the streets in the bay and the streets ib San Francisco all the stuff that goes down the drains in the when they wash down the sidewalk each week.
That's what they should worry about, not two stroke motors
Have a great 4th of July and a safe one.

You to buddy if you ever do get out this way be happy to get together you break bread or go fishing I just don’t understand all the regulations and taxes out there looks like all the money they suck out of youns the state wouldn’t be so far in debt there was a guy from out there wanting to swap jobs with me looked like a awesome place kinda a ghost town from the gold rush days I considered it but after I studied on losing about 15 percent more pay on state income taxes and the cost of living I passed it’s just a shame the left coast is awesome looking and good climate but the leaders ruin it all
You to buddy if you ever do get out this way be ha... (show quote)

I went to O'neill Forebay yesterday and was told that I couldn't launch my boat due to it being a per-1999 2 cycle. Very disappointing to me as it's been a great place to fish when I used to have an inflatable with trolling motor. Plus I got up at 4:00am and drove 99 miles! UGH!
Just wondering. Thanks

Here you go Mark,

I know that 2 strokes have been forbidden around Tahoe for some time. Some Bay Area lakes forbid them as well. Used to fish the forebay and San Luis with my two stroke a few years ago. I guess this is the new reality. Tough for those still owning 2 strokes.
