How to get another DD-214

I am trying to order another copy of my discharge papers, or DD214. So far, all I find are private firms pretending to be official! I had such a form, had it laminated and foolishly gave it away to my home town library along with all my other documents such as my commission, college degrees and tons of books. Just Sayin...RJS

You might try VeteranAffairs.gov. Good luck.

Couple suggestions
Call your hometown library and ask them to email you a copy.
Contact your purple heart service officer to request a copy.
If you are enrolled with you local VA ask for a copy
Finally request your service records from the archive.

Bob, I had to do that about 2 years ago. You need to contact our government, "NATIONAL PERSONNEL RECORDS CENTER", 1 ARCHIVES DRIVE ST LOUIS MO 63138- 1002
WWW.ARCHIVES.GOV

Once I made the request it took maybe 1/2 or 3/4 year to get the info. You will get a password and you will not be able to get the info without it, so be sure to remember/put in safe place.

Hope this helps you. Been there done that.

Robert - go to https://vetrecs.archives.gov/VeteranRequest/home.html. Won't take as long as if you do it via snail mail.

Mr. Samples , contact your Local V.A. representative ,tell him or her the problem, they can get the ball rolling for you , sometimes if you're not able to go see them they will come to your place of residence ,Good Luck Sir
