Hello everyone. Video Bob back after a couple of months of much needed R & R. Headed south for the Carolinas in a couple of weeks for some continued R & R & to do some fishing on Lake Gaston & am long over due on up-dating my fresh water reels. Any suggestion in the $100 to $150 price range would be appreciated. Does Walmart have anything worth looking at ???

I always buy Lews reels Discount Tackle.
They have a good selection and the reels I get are the American Hero. Bout 40 to 45 bucks and they donate to the Veterans for every one of those they sell.
Plus, I really love the reels, and if something happens to the reel it doesn't break the bank.
I own bout 6 of them and they have lasted several years so far.🤠👍

Daiwa BG is hard to beat for the price. $109 on Amazon.

The old adage “You get what you paid for” applies. Whatever your budget is, aim high. When I first got back into fishing, I bought some less expensive reels hoping for a positive outcome. None of those reels are still in use. I’m not saying you have to plop down $500 for a bait caster (wish I could) but if your budget is $100, spend 100. Lews, Daiwa, Shimano all make affordable and dependable reels. Even BPS Johnny Morris reels are OK. Good luck.

I like my $9.95 Shimano R2000 and $19.95 Mitchell Avocet. They caught thousands of fish 🎣 and still work great.

I like the Shimano Nasci reels. Around $100, sealed bearings, and no issues with the ones I already own.

eBay. I am still using vintage reels dating back to the 1960s. I particularly recommend the Penn Levelmatic or the ABU 5000c as well as the Daiwa reels of the 1970s and 1980s. The difficulty is finding one in top shape.

Call me old school, but I am just now changing out zebco quantum that I’ve used for well over 35 yrs. they still work well, but time for upgrade. Abu Garcia is my choice for casting reel and I have diawa and Johnny Morris spinning. Like both. Abu Garcia Silvermax great choice and are reasonable. And they are all used and seem to stand up

To each is own but wether working or fishing I like to use the best equipment I can afford. If you don’t have the means it’s fine to use whatever you have, but can’t understand why anyone wouldn’t want the best gear you can afford. Nothing feels better to me then a stradic w a G Loomis rod, spooled w my favorite braid. There is better but that’s within my budget. Not to mention a quality/ maintained reel will generally outlast a cheaper version. Performance is also an issue, on the rare occasion I get a trophy I don’t want to loose it because my drag malfunction or some other failure. Not my intent to criticize anyone, we all have different ideas, just expressing mine.🎣on!
