Hey fellow fisher folks. I'm new to the forum and new to fishing Salmon in the South Puget Sound. I live near area 13, just got a new to me boat and am about dialed in and geared up to hit the salt water locally. Still in need of downriggers but plan to jig and use divers etc. until then. I'll be studying the REGs more in depth. Any good tips, discussion, or general information would be much appreciated. Feel free to chime in with your feedback. Thanks, Jason

Congratulations on your new boat. I have an old Lund Predator 1650 and I love it. Lunds are well built and will last along time.

I suggest that you buy some Salt Away and wash the boat with it when ever you have been in saltwater. It will keep it from corroding from the salt. Trailer also.

WOW, nice boat! Best of luck out there, man! Wish I had advice to offer, but it’s all pretty much a mystery to me. I mostly just catch dogfish. 🤨

I’m not familiar with Olympia area but I used to fish Pt Defiance and the narrows most of the time. Also Port Angeles. A lot of people I knew would trailer to Port Townsend also.

Hey Jason, We are pretty much in the same boat, I am new to the local area and have never fished in MA 13 and only a couple of times in MA 11. However I have fished quite a bit in points North of that. One thing I would do if I were you is to join the South Sound Chapter of Puget Sound Anglers, we meet once a month at the Lacey Community Center the 1st Thursday of each month starting at about 6:30pm. Another thing would be to pick up a copy of The Salmon Fishing Journal by John Martines of John's Sporting Goods in Everett. Lots of good info in there about what to use and where to fish in Puget Sound, they have them in stock at West Marine in Olympia. Nice Boat by the way ! K.T.

I'm new to the South Sound Chapter but I was a member of the Everett Club for awhile before I moved to Lacey last September. I am on the board however so if ya have any questions, ask away. KT

There are Puget Sound Anglers flyers in the fishing dept of Cabelas as well as in Toms Outboard in Olympia, at least there were, cant say for sure if there still are. You can also check out the website.
