Hello all
I am a former resident of the Eastern shore of Maryland.
During my time living here I spent much of my free time fishing and crabbing the rivers and creeks of the Chesapeake.
Later on in life I moved to the mountains of NC to live with the girl who became my wife.
A couple of years later I convinced her that we needed to go to Maryland to do some fishing and crabbing. I told her about catching crabs and how you could get into the fish and catch one after another if they were running good. I’m sure at the time she thought I was full of it snd only making up fishing stories.
But finally to shut me up we rented a cabin at the state park. We trailered to Easton Point and I took her fishing.
We caught White perch, Stripers and she even hooked a cow ray which gave her a real good workout.
This was in the early summer of 2002.
We had rented the cabin for a week and she was on the phone renting the cabin for two weeks for September.
She was hooked!
Karen found that what I was telling her was not an exaggeration and since she loved fishing also this was the place to go!
Then we went crabbing. I baited a trot line and off we went. Fortunately I was able to lay out the line in one of my favorite spots and I showed her how to dip net crabs. You would have thought it was Christmas morning and Santa brought her everything she wanted. Crabbing became one of her favorite pastimes.
Years later we found a place to purchase near the water and rehabbed and old house on the property near Cambridge.
We now enjoy retirement and spend most of our summer in Maryland fishing and Crabbing the Choptank.
It’s been a great run and I am so thankful to have a place that I once called home to go to.
I am most thankful to have a wonderful woman who shares my passion of fishing and crabbing.
She has become and excellent fisherman and I would put her up against most anyone when it comes to dip netting some of those elusive crabs.
The Eastern shore is a jewel that continues to shine.

I'm right across the bay, just south of the Naval Research Lab. I used to go in the Choptank all the time. I caught a small skate on light tackle and it was the most fun ever. Thought i had a whale on. Enjoy your retirement.

A skate in a kayak must have been fun.
We fish out of a 17’ Crab Tracker boat. Aluminum. We’ve let the skates pull it around for a while.
