Another fishing trip in the books. A great group of likes minded guys. We traveled to Lake Gogebic in the Michigan UP. Beautiful lake, great accommodations at The Timbers Resort, lousy weather. We really did not have a good day of weather until our last day when we had to cut it short to pack up. We did catch a lot of fish. Actually put eight different species in the boat. We caught walleye, bluegill, pumpkin seed, northern pike, yellow perch, rock bass, large mouth bass, and small mouth bass. We really wanted to catch walleye but only caught two all week. Both of them to short to keep. We spoke to other fisherman and everyone was having a hard time locating the walleye. We caught a lot of rock bass and I have to say I have never seen rock bass that large. The bluegill and pumpkin seed were also larger than what I normally see. I have posted a few pictures. The small mouth I’m holding was a blast to catch and the largest of the weekI released him to give someone else a thrill. The perch I’m pictured with was my smallest of the week. We are already discussing next years trip.
My boat
My largest fish of the week. Released to fight another day
My smallest fish of the week
My only walleye. To small to keep
The other walleye caught also to small to keep

I have one too. A 2013 model and I love it. Great fishing boat
Great report Papa Jack! That is indeed a terrific lake to spend time on! Glad you had a good time and caught fish despite the lousy weather we were dealt last week!
Are there a couple crappies in the group picture of fish? The markings look like crappies…

No crappie. We were told
There are crappie in the lake but we did not catch any
Nice Gills,,judging by what you caught for walleye try mid lake between porcupine pt. and Ontanogen Park. With all the North Wind we had would of been better down South end Mid lake 20 to the 15 ft rise.. Gogebic is very wind oriented as you probably know not much structure to hold fish. Do this especially late June-end August.
