I caught this 7lb channel cat fish on West Point Lake, GA this morning. My biggest catch ever and I could not have done it without my husband and beagle pup 🙂. I was leisurely fishing for crappie and caught this cat on an ultra light rod and 6lb test line with a minnow! It was awesome! FYI: there were mayflies swarming where we were fishing 😉. Happy Father's Day, and everybody get excited about fishing! 👍🏻

Nice plump "cat"! When the mayfly hatch is in progress the fish are in the mood to bulk up. If you are there at the right time the fishing can be fantastic! Looks like you found that out in person!

Nice catch, but pup looks bored. Guess cats don't excite this dog too much.

So you were fishing normal depth with a minnow versus fishing the bottom with some stink bait or chicken livers?

He LOVES catfish! We did not let him check it out before releasing it. He is confused and upset as to why he didn't get to "kiss the catfish" before it swam away 😂 but this cat was a handful enough just for us, it would have ate Bran in one bite😂

Thanks so much! We are trying to teach him to be a good fishing dog. He is learning fishing etiquette ☺️ he loves to watch us cast and reel, help with catching and releasing, digging holes, swimming, and exploring. It can sometimes be a challenge but it is worth it.
