Unless I missed it, a couple very important points he failed to mention in the video: 1) when making your turns, make sure none overlap, and 2) before the last cinch, lubricate the knot with water or saliva to reduce the heat/friction which compromises the line strength.

This is an SC knot--it's less bulky and actually stronger than an Albright in the previous video (per comparison tests that can be found on YouTube). Again the demonstrator forgot to wet the knot before tightening. The strongest and thinnest mainline to leader knot per those tests is the FG knot, but in my opinion is also one of the most difficult to tie correctly. If I have enough lead time, I'll tie FGs the night before. On fishing day if I need to redo a braid to fluoro, I'll just do a double uni which is quick and I can pretty much tie in my sleep

True to a point. The FG does not hold well with thinner braided lines. I use 8# X9 braid and always use uni-to-uni knots. The FG knot cannot get a good grip with those lighter, thinner, braids...

Sandcrab, how are you liking your X9? I tried a spool a couple years ago when it first came out (at that point I had Sufix 832 spooled on all but one of my reels) and ended up with more line breaks than usual. I gave up that experiment and went back to Sufix, but this time tried the 131. No breaks and it's the smoothest and quietest braid I've ever used. Re my experience with the X9, it might've just been a bad batch plus, in my opinion, I think Berkley, although they do some things well, is spread too thin with all their different product offerings. A company like Sufix (acquired by Rapala in 2008) just makes fishing line, so they focus their energy and resources on doing one thing really really well.

I love it! I use 8# X9 with a 8# fluorocarbon for smallies on all my spinning rods. Never had any problems. I use 65# X9 for all my flipping and pitching. Just started using 20 and 30# X9 with a 20# mono leader on my baitcasters too. Works great for topwater plugs.
I used Nanobraid for awhile. I also like Suffix Nanobraid in 2# for ultralight freshwater fishing.

Great knot for braid to lures.
The double uni I spoke about above is for braid to mono or braid to fluorocarbon. I use it for leaders and when tying braid to my mono spool backing.

The Palomar is also a great not for braided to lures however I are spot on with the uni to uni for braided to mono.

With a 4' leader, I think your concern may be the knot catching on the guides during casting. If that is the case then an Alberto knot may be your best bet however it takes a lot of practice.
