Amicalola Creek & Moccasin Trout

I'm a 73 year old who just retired. As a boy I trout fished with fly rod on Amicalola River (now creek). Can anyone tell me wat the trout fishing is like?
Check with the GA WRD website for trout stocking info. The part of Amicalola on the WMA is a delayed harvest stream that opens to harvest on May 15 IIRC. lots of other trout streams in N Ga. Coopers creek, Noontootla, Tahlulah River Wildcat creek, and Chattahooche River are just a few.
Thank you for the information. I will look into the other streams you suggested. At 73 years of age and walking with a cane, are these, or any, of the streams a fairly easy wade?
You can find easier sections along most streams. Coopers, wildcat, and Tallulah will have the most easy areas in sections where the road runs along side them.

We are going to have a meet with a couple of other older fishermen in the Blue Ridge area in early June.... I am 84...also on a cane.....are you interested? I have a cabin in Blue Ridge....headed up there this week for the summer....
I was the WRD trout biologist in that area, now retired since 2008. Living in sw Virginia now. Thanks for the invite, but I have plans for mid June with some Potomac river smallmouths! Maybe some other time. Check with the local Trout unlimited chapters for more up-to-date info. I think there is a Blue Ridge chapter.
Hello Ozzie : my name is Ricky Brock , I would like to attend the next meeting of older trout fishermen with a cane meeting if i can ? Do you know when that will be ? I'am 73 and also walk with a cane due to 5 ruptured disks . not much fun most days. The trout unlimited guys used to meet at Tamen park on thursdays at day break , if you are up that early but they all walk good and will leave you behind fast if you can't keep up, which i can't. How are you liking Blue Ridge so far I know you just moved there or just got a cabin ?let me know . IT would be nice to talk fly fishing or just plain trout fishing . Thank You Ricky
