Took 81 years old brother Joe fishing 🎣 in Manasquan Inlet this evening on the full moon flood tide. Air temp was 18 degrees cooler than the inland temperature. Nobody was in my spot for the sixteenth time this year. Incoming tide in the inlet was very swift because of the moon 🌝 tide. Had a few hits but caught nothing for more than an hour and a half. Caught, tagged and released a 15” bluefish on my brother John’s homemade synthetic buck tail teaser but it bit off my Ava A-17. The bluefish bit off 4 of the 6 Ava jigs that I bought from Grumpy’s Tackle Shop recently. Saw bluefish jumping out of the water in the middle of the inlet. Reeled in 2, but the Ava fish 🐟 fell off when I lifted the double from the inlet. Caught, tagged and released my first windowpane flounder for this year with an Ava A-17. Then I caught, tagged and released my second 17” bluefish for the day on John’s teaser. The fish 🎣 hit for < 1 hour after the current subsided. A fisherman caught a blue near my car when I left.
Nice story and photo spread NJ! Those bluefish sure are hard on tackle! I have experienced similar lure losses and it sure can be aggravating!

Flounder is beautiful. Do you climb out onto the jetty or fish from the sidewalk with the railing?

Sounds like another fun day with Joe, Bands. Have you considered a short wire leader? I used to make up little 4 or 5 inch long ones with only a clip on one end and just a loop on the other. Feeding $5-$10 jigs to them gets old in a hurry. Thanks for the pictures.
Nice catches, that flounder sure has some camo

I fish 🎣 on the same rock on the jetty every trip and my brother Joe fishes from the sidewalk over the fence. Easiest way to catch bluefish is to sit on a bench until someone catches a fish, then start casting.
I am mobile enough just hate loosing lures in the rocks. But I know they love going in there. Incoming or outgoing both are productive, yes?

Yes. Dog Beach was good this year.

Is that inland of the inlet? I noticed there was a beach over there called Fisherman's Cove?
Very cool. My 83 old brother is no loner stable enough on his feet to take fishing. This saddens me he is the one that took me fishing the first time

NJ Fish and Wildlife holds a Veteran's Day surf fishing where disabled guys are provided with these big cushy chairs with gigantic wheels and each gets a "friend" to guide them down to the waters edge where they can cast and fish. It's very cool. Don't know if you might look into something like that maybe to rent for a day to take bro out.?

I Feel for you, brother, that stinks to your memories and enjoy your fishing for now!
