My son captains a boat here called the Teasers II. Today they got this Red Snapper that was 40 in. long. The season for them is not open right now so it was returned to the sea. This fish would have been close to if not a state record. Wanted to share it with Y,all.
That's a Truck, Gordon! I wanna give your son a virtual high-five🫸🫷!
WOW...that is a huge one for sure! The current record holder is very lucky that this fish was not available to bump out the old record! That had to be fun in the catching department...but a bugger about needing to release it without official recognition. Thank you for posting!
What a gorgeous, huge fish!! Congrats!
Nice BEAST ty for sharing
Wow Gordo! I had no idea they get that big.
WOW! Now that must have been fun! That could have fed a family for several meals. That snapper was man size!

That's a LARGE SNAPPER .
At least he got pictures of it. 👍🎣
Two days for recreational fishermen. Five and half months for commercial. What a crock of bull for the average Joe.

Kind of sucks for us.
Recreational season opens on July 14 and 15 only.
The commercial season opens at 12:01 a.m. on July 11 and remains open until Jan. 1, 2023 unless the commercial annual catch limit is met or projected to be met before this date
Gordon, that is ridiculous. I understand that ya gotta protect the Snapper stocks, but couldn't they lower the commercial #'s just a bit and extend the recreational season to at least a month ?
Spot surveys & declaring your catch outta be able to accommodate this.
Do the authorities really believe rod and reel amateurs are tat good ? 🤔.

That’s a one in a lifetime fish.
Gordon;
Now that's a Hoss if ever super nice fish. To bad it had to be released, this BS on release vs survival just does not add up.
Couple more weeks and we get our chances I'm going Slow Pitch style this season hopeing for a pig like that one.
Caught many Yellow Eye snappers like that and larger in the Abacos and Exhumas wish I'd had the Slow Pitch set ups back then:_)
