Hi Robert, been a while since I was down that way, but your right one of the best places to fish (or ues to be) the last few times I was there they was more people there and like you said you got to know your way around seems like all I did was help boater's off oyster bars and sand bars I just can't pass by someone that needs help, if anyone is going there for the first time I suggest go with someone who has been there and learn your way around.
They didn't call it Ten Thousand Inland for nothing and half of those
are nothing but Oyster bars, and remember to keep a tight line 🎣🎣🎣🎣
dr. bob fishing out of Safe Harbor Marina in Goodland.Agree no place like the islands but tough to find quality sport fish for last 8 months.
Great to here from you .If you do not know the area go with someone who does.the biggest problem is the water table.I have fished there 14 years i have a great gps it tells me what I need to know. Tight lines. BOB
26 years here and still learning. Continually out at negative tides and know areas that GPS can put you high and dry.Use same but rely on experience and caution much more than electronics.
I agree knowing the area is so importaint.everytime we have bad weather things change. You have to understand nothing is the same.
You know since the hurricane it is not really the same the reason is when the tide of 18 feet cane in most small fish made it out not the big fish .it will take 3 years to come back
Stayed right on Marco thru hurricane and saw no 18 ft tidal surge as we had about 8 ft above mean high. Do you have data to substantiate your statement about large fish and 3 year recovery as I am fascinated by the decline since Ian as previous hurricanes did not seem to have such a devastating effect on fishing.
I am still I learning but with caution.never think you know ir all things change all the time..all the fishing has changed.

I fish Boca Grande, Bull Bay and Turtle Bay area all of my life and can say if you fished it 60 years ago till now it's like fishing in another world.
They used to not be all the fishing guides with their 200 horse Plus motors running all over the sea grass taking people out on every corner of every Island tossing out greenies for snook and catching lots of juvenile and throwing them back with lots of them not making it and leave trail's with the propellers everywhere didn't see that back then. I know it's a living for lots of people but you can tell the few that cares about the environment and future of fishing, just wish the younger generation knew what they have messed out on.
I'v been down back in the day and on a week day and only see two or three boat's in the back country all day.
I have talked with capt. For clean water in the Sanibel area and they all know to well the outcome of the hurricane nobody wants to talk about it because it hurts tourists coming to our shors.

WELL LET'S TALK ABOUT IT 😂😂
Don't get me wrong I have some of the nicest friends that comes down each year for the winter and I look forward to seeing them, But lots of them wants to use the phase that's not the way we do it up North sorry but your not up north so I'v have a few times told a few of them that I-75 goes both ways most of the time they back up and say just kidding, and I'v had two older couple at the little
country restaurant I eat at quite a bit complaining about the weather and the food ( the butter was not like up home, the pancakes was flat) and gas prices are so high down there even said that we would all starve if they didn't come down, well I held back as long as I could then I spoke up and told them I would love for them to stay up there and let us try it one year. They finished up and left the owner one of my best friends told me she was so tired of hearing that and was glad I told them that. I know that they help the economy during the winter months but don't think we would starve 😂 like I said most of them are good people and they appreciate the things we offer to them. Just my opinion ( if you can't get along with me you really have a problem I love people and enjoy taking with people, Remember we are all Gods people. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
You are so right everything has changed. The problem is nobody wants to talk about it .they do not want you to know.
The reason is the fishing had changed.tell the truth.
As for my options you are so right .everybody has to look at this it is for real .
