OC Maryland head boat trip

I had a blast on Monday, fishing with the crew on the Angler head boat out of
Ocean City Maryland. Left the dock at 6am around 30*F drizzling, sleeting for
a 3 hour run into the Atlantic for black sea bass, good size porgies, bluefish
and plenty of spiny dogfish. I managed to pull in 6 nice bass 8 porgies and
lost count of the bluefish all of which I gave away to folks fishing near me.
Awesome on the water for sunrise from the bow and double rainbow from
the stern. The maker is a great artist.

FF great day it was. For me it would have been survival of the temps.

How many people do they get on one of those boats?

On this day there was only 17 of us. Couple people limited out on sea bass, which
is 15@ 12.5in. I’m not sure what it’s approved for by the Coast Guard. I’ll check
into it next time I’m on. Hopefully soon. There is a 14hour trip in planning stages
now for tautog fishing.

I used to work with some guys who would do the party boat thing and I know they all enjoyed it. I guess I'm too much a loner. That many people on a small boat is just not my idea of a good time. My wife says I'm anti-social. I disagree. Just don't easily suffer fools. A curmudgeon, that's me. And being curmudgeonly, folks tend to get my hackles up fairly easily. Why put myself and those good people thru all that?

Depends on where they go for the day it varies with the time of year and what the target
species is. Normal sailing days 7:30am to 2:00-3 or 4pm goes for $68. On their ten hour
trip go out 15-25 miles fishing in 70’-120’ of water other times 14 hr trips 40-80miles
fishing in 120’-800’ not sure of that price yet and I can’t find it on the website. I’m anxious
to go on 14hr. You can see some basic info on Angler restaurant (angleroc.net) or their facebook
page Angler.

Sorry for the long response time, all this texting and corresponding online and Christmas
rush and Post Office lines and it’s my day to do the cooking. Anyway I enjoy the solitude
of surf fishing but when nothing is biting,I’ll go on the party boats. The boat I was on Monday
wasn’t cramped or crowded and not that small at 65’. Always learning new techniques and
meeting people from all over the east coast.

Good day for you.
love those seabass. They quit head boats here due to so many restrictions on Fish numbers. Our limit is 7 fish 13" a day

I don’t know all the details of the latest fishery commission but here it’s not good for Virginia to
Maine. Lower bag limit of bluefish, was 15 @ 8” and up, lower crocker, kingfish, even flounder
supposedly changing. I think the commission is trying to put the party boat people out off business.
I’ll go back and see if I can find the link with the specifics and attach it when I have a minute
If your interested

Right now it is 25 Croakers at 9 inch in Maryland. That's in the Bay.
