If anyone thinks that blue gills are extremely tasty, Lake Saguaro is the place to go. I caught these in about 90 minutes in the coves around Camper's Cove. Biggest blue I have caught and it put up quite a fight! Used worms as bait.

Outstanding catch, prjmac! Gills that big are definitely worth the time scaling & fileting!

I don't scale them just fillet out the meat. Lots easier and quicker.

Yeah, my wife likes them skin on to fry up so the skin's crispy. She doesn't care for breaded or batter dipped.

Did you fish from shore or on a boat?

Very nice linkers. Don’t even need to gut them just filet and skin or just take the shoulders for fish tacos. There are plenty in the lake and they multiply rapidly and by removing them you allow them to get bigger and have more.. Also something I like is they can active ALL day so you don’t have to be there at sunrise.
