Spring Fishing in Texas Y'all!

I have had some great fishing trips this spring in Central Texas and on the coast at South Padre Island. Lake Buchanan gets rocking right before the bigger cold fronts come through. Time them just right, three or four hours before they get there, and you can load the boat. As soon as it sweeps through, fish get lockjaw. My buddy and I were doubling up almost every cast, and you find yourself ducking flying fish as they come flying in the boat. We don't even have time to put them in the live well, and they pile up on the floor. Some days, it's called catching, not fishing.

I also went to South Padre Island twice and caught a big variety of fish over two different weeks. I fished in the surf, off of the jetty, on the bay party boat that posts up off of the end of the jetties, and with a guide in a shallow water bay boat. I caught hardhead catfish, Gafftop catfish, whiting, sand trout, speckeled trout, croaker, pompano, black drum, a Bonnet shark and a stingray.

I didn't take fish pics at the coast as they weren't really pic worthy, but I did have a full ice chest to take home. Boca Chica beach sits five miles away, across the water from the south end of the island and the jetty. We did get an unforgetable floor show the morning of 4/20, courtesy of Elon Musk and SpaceX. We drove to Boca Chica the night before, and got within 200 yards of the la. Mind boggling stuff. My heart was in my throat when they initiated a RUD. It is an acronym for Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly
