Word Trivia
May 2, 2023 18:23:33   #
Commander Bell Loc: Lafayette Indiana

Sassigassity was a word coined by Charles Dickens in his 1850 book The Christmas Tree. The word was only used once in a literary text.
What was Dickens definition of the word Sassigassity?
I expect this to be a real challenge!
I wish I could offer more details, but doing so would give it away.
When I post the answer I will also post the original literally text from said book The Christmas Tree 🌲
Good luck to all and good guessing.

Let me do some research. I've read a considerable amount of Dickens, but i'gotta amity never that one. Maybe I should? Are you a for real Navy Commander? As in O-4? I am a retired Navy Chief.
In any case, welcome aboard the Stage. I ve only ever know one Navy Commander real well, and I must says he was a real a_hole, So if you are one also ( a Commander, not the other ) I will reserve judgement for now. But I will also drop the Sir. I do respect the rank and the uniform. You should too and drop the stolen valor? He who shall remain nemain nameless and I were on security watch together and he was trying to impress we lowly e-men with his considerable knowlede. Sort of your version or trivial persuit. "
who said the evil that men do lives after them, the good is oft. . . blah blah blah?
I gave him the correct answer and told him who the author was and with work it was from.

So I love the game and pretty damned good at it. Just please don't under estimate the old
Chief and bring it on.

well I follow the rules of the game and don't look things up which means I seldom get things right. but hapaw legomenon can be broken down into several small words "ha paw Lego men on" so I'm thinking it is a kid telling his dad that Lego men is on. most likely a TV show so what it really means all translated is "hey paw, the Lego men (show) is on". so how did I do Spirit did I get your's right?

Hey spirit,
I was the Senior Commander of a group known as the Royal Rangers. Sort of like the Boy Scouts but more Biblical focused. We leaders were referred to as Commanders. Hence the name stuck.
Although it's been many years ago I'm still called Commander Bell by many.
I have another interesting name that I also known by.
I'm also a amateur magician who has done many stage shows and stand up comedy throughout the Lafayette Indiana aria. I retired from performing when Covid hit, but still act as Treasurer for our local group of the International Brotherhood of Magicians. I also act as a consultant for many magicians world wide. I'm known as Mr Mud Head, or just simply Mud Head

Very cool. And I'm buying it. As I recall, growing up the fishing around northern Indiana sucked. If that's changed please tell me what is it that you fish for there

The correct answer for Sassigassity, as Dickens intended it is a intense rudeness.
The line from The Christmas Tree reads as follows." The old dog had a Sassigassity in it's mannerisms.
The Christmas Tree 🎄 is a series of short stories within a short story.
It's about a old man near the end of his days, that is reminiscing about his life as he is putting Christmas ornaments on a tree. Each ornament reminds him of something from his past.
Thanks for your responses,
Commander Bell out
