Where and what to fish for? We just moved to Kearney NE from AR and need sum guidance.
My wife and I love to fish but since moving to Kearney, NE we don't have a clue where to go or what to fish for.
Calamus and McConahay offer some good fishing. Smaller lakes, Elwood, Johnson, Brady, Maloney. Nebraska has many spots, just depends on what you are after.
Harlan County Lake to the South and Sherman and Davis Creek Reservoirs look to be fishable. Those should hold just about anything that swims in fresh water!
Good luck!
Try the Interstate sand pits along I-80.
Bass, crappie, blue gill
Sand pits around Kearney, and the Platte River. All different kinds of fish from catfish to large mouth Bass and everything in between.
Your close to the interstate lakes, bass, bluegill if that's what you like? Harlans not far either.
I see you have had some good suggestions but the one question I have is, do you have a boat? If not then you'll need some more specific information unless you have already tried some of these places. My only negative comment is that when it comes to interstate lakes they are hit hard around here and I haven't had what I call good success with them. The lake across from the Arch is fun catch and release place for lg mouth bass. Wht, crappie and blue gills are there too.
Harlan county reservoir for bass, catfish, walleye, crappie, among others. It’s better if you have a boat.
