I do enjoy mine. My cousin got his first one in 1980. He caught it trout fishing in Lund NV. He still has it and has swapped reels at least 10 x. Good rods.

I used to break the tips off of my fishing rods every year and saw the advertisement for the ugly stick and bought one probably in May 1976. I had it and used it for years until it was stolen. The tips have gotten shorter over the years and have since broken a few of them. The last one I bought the ugly part frayed a bit but I still use it for trout fishing.

That's one of the few rods I've broken and it couldn't have happened at a worse time when I had a large Smoker on the other end. No more Ugly Sticks in my arsenal.

I bought my first Ugly Stick UL rod the year they came out. The commercial showed the wife putting it in the trash compactor to keep husband from fishing. He opens it, takes the rod out and goes fishing. I still have that rod and a dozen others I now use on saltwater. Have landed everything from snapper to 300+ sharks and one 500 + pound Goliath grouper with dozens smaller in the hundreds.

I have seen fish break rods. It doesn't mean you cant land the fish. You could have taken the supposed BROKEN ugly stick back for a free replacement. What brand of Fishing Rods never break? A little nick in today's fishing rods is all it takes for them to break.

Power bait! Lol! I caught a GX2 outta Calumus Res in 17. Hadn't been in the drink long. Cleaned and greased the reel and still have it as a "go to" rod. PS. I had a 3/8 Oz jig with a white 2" twister tail

There are vary few places that still give you free replacement under warranty any longer. My first two U S came with LIFETIME WARRANTIES. I still use both. They were made different. Current U S have 7 year warranty. Still a good warranty. Bass Pro , where I don’t shop any longer will replace the rod at the store if you added their warranty to your rod for $29.99. In this area SWFL SUNSHINE ACE HARDWARE has a great fishing dept and if the manufactures allows will replace the rod in the store. They replaced. $250 Star Rod no questions ask. Angler error, broken on 12 foot Hammerhead while fishing alone. Ace is selling name brand quality lures, not knock off junk! Manufactures will replace tods under warranty but many need to be sent to them lLooked at a higher end group of kid rods this week $149/279 and all had one year warranty except STAR with limited Lifetime. U S. Jigging Rod , not as pretty, heavier, 7 years, bullet proof!

Ugly stiks are the 3rd strongest rid in the world , the 2 bette rids are Dam and another one that I can't remember. But those rods are very expensive. Ugly stiks are cheap price wise. I own 36 ugly stiks and there all for different fishing. Never broke one. Slammed a car door on one, it was fine scratched up but ok. Oh I think I might have squashed an eye. I just taped on a spare and off fishing I go.
