Hello everyone,

Does anyone of you ever use this so called Green Blobs to see fish at night? Either from the dock or from the boat? Does it work? Do you see bait fish and then big fish coming for the bait fish? I bought one and used it one time last week. Did not fish, jut water bugs. Maybe it’s too early. They are not coming to shallow water yet in Southern California lakes? I’m not sure. Thank you for your input!

I tried one in Florida brackish water (mix salt and freshwater). The water was dirty enough (lack of clarify) that the light couldn't illuminate more than 10 feet away (probably even less than that). So not sure if it could have any effect on attracting fish as the fish probably wouldn't even see it 30 or more feet away.

If the water is super clear, then it might work. But in most ponds or lakes I imagine water clarity is even lower than what we have down here in brackish water.

So for me it just didn't work at all. But like you, I was imagining how I would be seeing my bait and the fish circling around it and finally striking.

Maybe I needed to give it more time and try again, but I wasn't impressed at all and just abandoned the idea.

Hi, lights attract bait fish not the large fish that you are targeting. The targeted fish will wait in the dark outside of the light looking for bait fish to eat.

Be careful. Check the regulations. I don't know the law now, but in the old days use of a light in California to attract fish was illegal

I have an older green fluorescent one that is 48” long that I’ve used in the bay by Richmond and it really works great to attract a bunch of smaller fish. They swim around it like a fish tornado. Never caught any fish because of it though. I have also tried it up in the delta, but it didn’t have the same effect…

I use lights at Halfmoon Bay in the summer when the squid are spawning and they love the light and the White Sea Bass love the Squid…

Yeah Db1, A successful predatory fish is usually pretty much like a mugger in a dark alley.

The use of lights for night fishing is 100% legal in California. This includes submersible lights for attracting fish.

Don’t know what the Green Blob is, but when I was a kid my Grandpa took me out a couple times at night targeting Cat fish. He had about a 12” sq. Piece of pine, melted a 3” candle in the middle, lite it and pushed it out in the water. Had it tied to the shore, tossed in a small anchor in with a little rope tied to it. Then we baited and cast out around the floating candle. If I remember correctly. We caught catfish both outings. That’s been about 60 years or so ago, and I think I’ve only tried it once since. Interesting concept, so let us know if you try it and you have to fight off the fish!😁

Have fished with submersible green lights in Lake Powell with great results. First 30 minutes it drew plankton in. In massive numbers plankton looks like a big shadowy ball. Maybe 20 or 30 minutes later you could see the flashes of the bait fish darting in for the plankton. About the same length of time you could see the big flashes after the bait fish. Mostly crappie. Which was our target species. For me it worked great. And yes the water was very clear When I say me. It was my brothers boat light and he had used this method several times. All with great results. And besides that it was really cool looking sitting above the green glow. Oh yes also they were 48” completely submersible lights probably 8-10 under the water. 🐠🇺🇸On

Wow, I wish I could witness this amazing event too. Do you have pictures or videos to share? Thank you for letting me know that the green light does work. The green light I bought has 15,000 lumen. The highest is 30,000 lumen. But it costs twice as much.

This was probably five years ago. Two phones ago one lost in lake the other stolen. Had pictures don’t really know why I didn’t video. What was really cool was watching ducks coming through the green light underwater. They stretch their necks out and pull their wings tight to their body and look like a bowling pin shooting through the water. First time scared the crap out of me. Brother got a big kick out of me and my other brother. He had seen it several times. It brought the ducks after the bait fish. We had no clue the ducks were around us till we seen them. They are unbelievably fast under water

I’m sorry about your phones being lost and stolen. I’m glad to know that the green light does work. I will try to use it again sometimes this month. Thank you
