Well it's been a while but I have been talking about building a small bass boat out of a jon boat and even though it has a ways to go here is the progress so far. If anyone has any ideas as far as design, decals, even equipment I am all ears

Look’n good, Aaron. My question is, with your main motor off set to the right side on a narrow transom have a tendency to push the boat to the left? Just curious… 🐟on

Flotation Floatation Flotation. As long as Jonboat has foam somewhere and huge bilge pump or pumps it would be cool to fish with it. Looks nice.

Dozerdave the motor isn't fully set at the moment. I just put it where it's sitting to see if I will like. I will more than likely build a foot controlled trolling motor mount in the front so I can center the main motor on my transom.

I was thinking about removing the casting deck and loading the front up with liquid expanding foam. Would that work or do you have a better suggestion?

Aaron, there's a lot of valuable storage space in there. Also you want the flotation to be evenly distributed so the boat floats level if swamped. The heaviest things on the boat are batteries and the outboard /fuel tank. You don't want the most flotation at the opposite end.
There's a channel on YouTube called "Tiny Boat Nation", check it out for some great ideas.

Make sure it's close cell foam. I agree with Fred and you'll need room for your battery up front an other stuff. I'd even try an put gas tank up there. Just make sure it's vented good if its inside a compartment. Get a scratch pad an wright this all down an go from there. You'll get good ideas an one may lead to another down the road and you'll be ready to add it πŸ‘. Keep the picks coming πŸ‘

Put in a bilge pump and some foam board under each bench seat and in the point of the bow. You’ll have as much or more flotation than the boat was designed for and the bilge pump will give you that extra level of safety.

Definitely move the trolling motor to the bow. Like Fred said there is a bunch of good U-tube videos out there.

I’d also put her in the water and see how you like its stability before I went much further. Wouldn’t want to get her out there all finished and not feel comfortable fishing off the deck. I put my deck a little bit lower in mine.

Looking great!!!
Tight lines
