Bait Cannon: Anyone have one or has built one?

I have watched several You Tube videos on bait cannons used to get the bait and hook out beyond the breakers when surf fishing. Many people make them using PVC pipe and some are commercially available. Anybody tried them?

I tried one that my father made from PVC. Worked great. I seen some on YouTube. Also online there is a bait cannon shop. Very expensive at $600.00 plus. I am sure you can make one a lot cheaper. The top pic is listed at $750.00. The website is Bait Cannon Shop.

I have not but I recall a series of posts I think last year here on the stage about using a drone to drop your bait way out beyond the break.

Well, Big Bertha sez it'll shoot it out the equivalent of approx. 3/16th of a mile, that should be more than plenty. But couldn't ya charge the accumulator up to the value you need for your desired placement ? Rain coming later and I'll look into this.
Imagine the backlash you'll have if something happens during the launch or landing event ?
This might be a good use for a well adjusted bait feeder type spinning reel. For sure, I'd also have a couple of spare spools just in case.

Make a cannon yourself. There are several examples of golf ball and potato cannons or air cannons on the internet, Just adjust to your needs. The parts are cheap.
