Unfortunately Jeremy, a good water year does not end the drought. Groundwater everywhere is still dangerously low.

When lakes fill rapidly, as with McClure, where's the sweet spot for Kokanee and Kings? Deep, middle or shallow?

Looks great and I am happy for you. I understand the same is not happening at the Hoover Dam.

AF= one acre-feet is about 325k gallons, so they are letting out a lot of water from McClure today. Like most reservoirs in California, the last 25% or so of storage is regulated by the Corp of Engineers depending on the dam strength, need for electricity generation, flooding of marina facilities, and the needs for water downstream by fish, wildlife and people. You don't need more downstream today with the flooding going on, but there you have it. Lots of water and more coming early next week.

Twice in the pass they had to open the flood gates at Don Perdo and not only wash the road out but flooded West Modesto

Thats the $64,000 question, went today looking for trout , carp and catfish and not one bite. Oh well it was good getting out and seeing a full lake and the grass is green and flowers coming out.

Isn't amazing what has happened here. Great to see the big island under water again. Love to launch at Horseshoe bend. Thanks for the pix , Ranger.

I've been fishing Don Pedro mostly this winter. Gonna try again Monday. Have to be careful of all the floating debris.

Use to love Don Pedro and fished it all the time, but since the raised their price on launching you boat I won't go their now and I have caught a lot of fish in that lake.
Good luck when you go and have a safe trip
