I moved to maineville a few months ago and would like to fish close by. I'm not much of a fisher mainly because I'm an old lady but I'd like to know where to fish and what I'm fishing for and tackle, lures to use. Any suggestions would be greatly helpful. Thanks

Welcome to the stage Denise, I don't know where you can fish but fishing with worms, minnows, is good for several species of fish.
Catfish love chicken livers, dead shrimp, and catfish bait that you can buy at Walmart and bait shops. As for lures jigs, rooster rails, plastic worms are all good πŸ‘

Denise, have checked out the app that ODNR has (hunt fish Ohio)?

It has a map feature that will help you locate areas around you to fish. If the waterway is under their jurisdiction it usually has highlighted hot fishing area for each lake.

I would also recommend you check out YouTube for help with what ever species of fish you want to target. It will atleast give you a starting point.
You don't have to start out with any thing very expensive or fancy. Just get some basic gear and have fun and enjoy the outdoors.

Thanks Gary. I have fished before I just don't know how to tie stuff together or when to use weights or not you know that kind of thing. I always went with someone else who did that for me but never showed me how. Thanks for great advice and help I do appreciate it.

I have all the faith in the world that you can do it all. YouTube is great for teaching all that you mentioned.

Good luck and tight lines

Welcome to the stage Denise. Aberdeen hook with a minnow about 18" under a bobber for crappie. Caesar's Creek state park is just right up 71 there Also little Miami river to the West. Not sure what fish species you're trying to catch but I'd talk with your local bait shops. Weight an hook with a nightcrawler is great for channel cats. Uncle Mike's magic thread is good to help to hold liver on your look if you want to use chicken liver for catfish. Get a pair of long needle nose pliers to remove hooks. Good luck with your fishing girl and share pics when you canπŸ‘

I fish at meldahl lock& dam it's good fishing year round you can fish from the bank it sauger season now, but cat fish bass & of species can be caught year round add Ohio River gage to your phone it will give you water levels at the dam 19 feet & below is prime times to fish from bank. You are allowed 2 Rods.
( fishing 4 sauger 10 pound test line is good. Use a slip sinker & hook from your hook up put on a split above 10 inches above hook to hold your slip sinker 10 inches away from your bait cast out as far as you can reel slack out of your line the bottom is rock & you will break off lots of hook bait use minnows. There's good parking & it's safe. The people are friendly just ask them they will be glad how to do your set up for fishing I have fished the oh River 4 over 50 years it hard to explain exactly how to fish if you are old enough you can get a life time fishing licenses, that what I have. You can also go 2 you tube & get pointers where to fish example sauger fishing oh River, hope this helps a bit .
