Hello folks I am from northern Ca about 30 minutes from the Russian river with years of good fishing trips on that river. Now I’ve moved to Modesto Ca and am looking for rivers or streams that it is legal to fish for steelhead and of corse where I can find them running. If anyone knows I’m all ears. Thank you in advance, Ricky
You can fish the Calaveras River and the Stanislaus River and the Stanislaus river is off of Highway 120 going towards Sonora Jamestown there's a place called two mile bar and that is just before you get to the South ramp exit on the left side of the highway. You have to make a u-turn at that exit and come back about 2 miles and it's on the right side headed back towards town very good fishing
You can also look up Fisherman's Warehouse in Manteca it is on Highway 120 East of 99 and they can help you locate places to fish. They are very nice but their hours are strange.
Fishermans Warehouse went back to there old ours 7days a week 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Paul, I was unable to locate the place you are referring to. Google can't find the location unless I put in Jamestown and Sonora and then there are no names that you mention in the posting.
Can you list coordinates, or a road next to which the location is closest?
Thanks!!
Hi this might be a little far but I know that you can fish the american river for steel head and other sport fish, like trout and salmon. For salmon you don't need a license because they are land locked to Folsom lake. I don't exact spots though.

Where do you not need a license on the American River to fish for ANY fish?
