So I have spent almost my entire fishing life bank fishing worms and bobber, or occasionally a kastmaster, meps, or similar spinner for rainbow trout. I've dipped my toe, well, my foot into into the world of striper fishing lately, but by no means do I know what I'm doing!
Anyway, a bud came across this older tackle box with some well used and well loved lures. Obviously, some of them are older and show a lot of wear. My questions to the experienced(I won't say old timers) fisher folks are these: what fish was this guy after, and how were they deployed? Trolled, cast and steady retrieve, jigged? River, lake, stream? Is there a value here besides historical/sentimental? Not looking to sell or give away if they are usable, but wouldn't mind passing on to somebody that would appreciate or use if I can't. Pipe and lighter included for scale

Another shot showing how they were stowed.

Nook I didn't see anyone mentioning the spinnerbaits across the top
The ones with the skirts n blades.
Cast n retrieve at various speeds. Slow roll you reel it just fast enough to keep it off the bottom or just above grass. I think anything will hit them. Nice assortment brother.
Don't be surprised if they don't hold a high value.
From what I've seen of appraised lure only the rarest bring bigger money.
Enjoy them

Nice find Nook! The ones with the plastic bill are "Rapala" rebels, the flat tail ones are "Bombers", the red/white one is "Luckey 13", I fishied with all of those back in the late 50's early 60's in my uncles resiviour on the dairy in Penngrove, California. Did not have a good rod or reel, but caught a few bass with them, only place to fish as I could walk there from home, spent many fine summer afternoons dragging those lures in hopes of catching a bass or two. Thanks for sharing, and I never caught any bass on the frilly spinner, ones tho I had one! Great memories tho!

What no surface lures. Could not have been serious old timer bass man

It looks to me that the ones on the far right are surface lures, especially the red & white one. The red and white one in the middle looks like it may be a popper too.

I fish the Navesink River in NJ for stripers. My most productive lures are made by Yo-Zuri in particular the Chrystal Minnows. I mention this to you because every California stripers' ancestor came from the Navesink back in the 1880s. Maybe some genetic material has passed down. Tight lines.

Yep. I've caught a few on Yo-Zuri here in CA.

I really like the "Hydro LC" (LC=long cast) for casting from the bank.

Mostly freshwater lures Nook some of them might be worth some money put them up for bids on ebay and then buy yourself some striper lures then again if your going after freshwater stripers I believe any of them lures might work you might want to sharpen the hooks or put new ones on them let us know how you do.Good Luck and Tight Lines.πŸŽ£πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

They are good lures they are great for bass fishing and the spinner baits also.
Looks like you have a lot of Bomers they are deep running baits they simulate a Crawfish.
I have caught many a bass with them.
And yes some old I would differently keep them

Thanks to all. I appreciate the input and education regarding the lures.
I just gave them back to the guy that gave them to me. Apparently he failed to ask if it was ok to pass them on. No biggie. I'm not yet a smb or lmb fisher, but may explore that activity this summer now there is some water in the nearby lake.
Thanks again for the responses
