Any recommendations for walleye fishing from shore on Saginaw river?
Thanks
Try casting 3/8 jig with 3inch rubber minnow. Zilwaukke Park is popular place.
At night try casting a stick bait or shallow diver by the bridges will catch fish. The street lights attract baitfish the walleye are looking for.
Thanks for those recommendations. I took my son up there last weekend. We tried 1/2oz jig with a couple different rubber baits and some crank baits at various locations- DNR launch near mouth, Gilson launch, and others around Bay City with no luck. We didn't feel bad, the only guys with some fish were boats coming back in from bay and even they reported not hitting much.
I did notice it's very shallow near the shore. I'm used to fishing Saint Clair river but want to expand out and try Saginaw and Detroit.
If nothing else, I feel good about taking my boat up there and now know where to launch.
Bay City Veterans Park is a good spot for perch and walleye also. Good shore spot.
I've launched at DNR at mouth before. They recently did a bunch of work there and just reopened it not too long ago. Nice and close to the bay.
