So I’ve only posted a few times but every post has gotten moved to a section called Georgia fishing or whatever it is, but it’s not where I put it. I can’t see others personal state sections how is anyone supposed to see mine.
I think the reason you see so many people who introduce themselves and then you never hear from them again is 1 because of what I just said and 2 because once you sign up to be a part of it all, it’s no longer the same, everything changed.
Let’s see where this winds up

The post you speak of goes to Georgia fishing because that is your location Uncle_T. Mine do the same thing but to Colorado. I don’t think your posts appear that way across the entire stage but I haven’t researched it but I do know they are still available to everyone from the responses a I’ve had to mine. Personally I think so many don’t come back because I don’t think they get quite the kind of answers they are looking for. A lot want information as to specific areas and yet are kind of vague as to where their area is and in many cases I think that our membership, doesn’t have the kind of information folks are looking for. I hope you will stay with us. Great folks here, much to be learned and much to be gained.

The same happens to me the post are moved to Indiana. However, I know others are seeing them because I get comments from all over the country. I understand it as away for all of us in our own state to see the post made by those that are near us.

Yes I really don’t like to see the people asking for this and that, usually where to go what to use, tell me how to catch fish without trying, then never say anything about the outcome or as you said, not even a thanks
Uncle_T ..... You're not not alone in your irritation with that, but they just don't understand that this is not a search engine, it's more or less a participatory site to EXCHANGE fishing information and a little chit-chat.
Some of us kinda take turns with the demanding inquiries, but so many of them come in daily, that we don't keep up. Usually doesn't help anyway, and ya can just hit "return to digest" and move on to what is of interest to you.
Lots of these folks are just used to Alexa, Siri, and Bing, Google & Yahoo. They'll go away, and we continue.
Don't confuse sections with tags.
"Main" is a section. "Location-Specific Discussions and Fishing Report Requests" is a section. "Introduce Yourself" is a section. "Meet And Greet, Get-Together Events, Group Activities" is a section.
"Georgia" or "Connecticut" is not a section but a tag to indicate the location relevance of a topic that can be placed in any of the sections.
So if a topic is in Main and tagged Georgia, then people from Georgia will see it at the top of the digest under "Georgia Fishing". Everyone else will see this topic in Main.
If a topic is in Location-Specific Discussions and tagged Georgia, then people from Georgia will see it at the top of the digest under "Georgia Fishing". Everyone else will see this topic in Location-Specific Discussions.
No difference to users from Georgia, but for people from other locations (outside of Georgia) topics in Location-Specific Discussions are placed at the end of the digest as they have the least relevance.
If a topic is about something that might be interesting to everyone, like a set pics from a fishing trip, then it should be placed in Main. People from Georgia would see it just the same, but people from other places would see it too.
If a topic is about something really specific, like the location of a ramp on some lake, then it should be placed in Location-Specific Discussions. So that people from Georgia would see it at the top of their digest just as if it were placed in Main. But people from other locations won't have it taking up space at the top of the list.
Eventually, I'll be adding more tags, like "East Texas" or "South California" or even based on types of fishing in a location. But for now there is no need for that. I don't want to fragment the forum too much.
But the goal here is to make sure topics that are relevant to you are shown at the top. Followed by topics from other locations that might be interesting to you regardless of the location. Followed at the bottom by topics that are less likely to be relevant to you because of their location and the nature of the topic making it only useful for that location.
