Welcome to the stage John. Don’t do much freshwater fishing anymore but I’ve heard about fishing in your neck of the woods. Good luck and send some pictures if you catch some.

Hey John, welcome. I fished in Millers Lake a few times back in late 70’s, early 80’s. I do remember catching many good bass. We started fishing salt water out of Grand Isle, about that time and haven’t done much bass fishing since.

I grew up in Ville Platte. Don't hold that against me. Fished both millers and chicot. Caught many bass in Millers, and many crappie in Chicote. When you launch out of the south landing, go to the east where the camps are along the lake. I have caught many bluegill and bass around those camps. In Chicot, I fished right out of the landing straight across to the trees. When the tent caterpillars were there. We bumped the trees and knock some in the water. Then drop a line 2' down and catch perch, both crappie and bluegills. Also fished the blue springs area and caught both bass and crappie. Back when I fished millers, nothing larger than a 10hp on the boat. There was no tournaments in the lake. Now any size motor, and many tournaments.

Went there yesterday. Friend invited me to eat some 'stuffed cow tongue', yum. If you don't mind letting me know when you go, and if I can tag along in my own boat. I do know a few places, but not so much where but making sure I go and come back. LOL

This has nothings to do with fishing- I just wanted to say happy Mardi Gras to all the Louisiana folks. If anybody goes to the Mamou run, please say hi to my big brother Charlie for me - he’ll be playing on the wagon. Stay safe, have fun and have a dance and some gumbo and a Miller lite for me!

How come you don't come here and say hi to your brother for all of us? To let people know how important Mardi Gras is, here in Louisiana......well.
This was yesterday morning: I woke up with a large pain on my left side, right where the heart is. It was 6am and my heart doctor and staff open up at 8. So I got ready to go, by packing my bag taking a shower and checking my blood pressure. It was 205 over 119!!!! I took it several times, and although it went down a bit, all readings was over 100 on the low side and all over 160 for the high side. I finally called my doctor and they said if it continues!!!??? to go to the emergency room. Why? They are shutting down for the 'MARDI GRAS'. Will be back on Wednesday. BTW I made an appointment for that morning.
I really feel as good as new, just needed some time.
