Which lake would you recommend for the average fisherman? Lake Cumberland or Dale Hollow?

You may want to start another post with a title like “Dale Hallow or Lake Cumberland, Tennessee”. This ended up in the Ohio section and it may not catch the attention of the right people.

I have never fished Lake Cumberland and only been on Dale Hollow many years ago. I do know Dale Hollow has multiple species of fish, including monster smallmouth bass. It is a deep, cold, and clear lake. The time of year would determine what I would try to catch. You can Google the lakes and get fishing reports and TWRA also has a site that gives fishing info on lakes in Tennessee.

Dale hollow for bass and walleye. Both can be tough and both can be great.

One of my favorites. Again, check fishing reports before you decide. Cherokee has largemouth, smallmouth, stripers, hybrid, white bass, walleye, crappie, catfish, even shovelbill catfish. If you are fishing out of a boat, stay in the main channels when running. There are some shallow areas from now until they bring the water up in late spring.

Thanks, actually we're not making the trip until the second week of June. Guessing the water level will be up. Staying close to Huff's German Marina.

German Creek and Ray Creek are good areas to fish. When the weather is hot during the day, nighttime fishing gets pretty good. Of course, early morning and late evening can be good, also. People at the marina should be able to point you toward what’s biting. Have fun.

Depends on what fish you'd like to target. If you are interested in Strippers then I'd recommend Lake Cumberland. If you are interested in Smallmouth Bass I'd recommend Dale Hollow. Both lakes are good Largemouth Bass, Crappie, and Catfish fisheries. Lake Cumberland is beautiful but in my personal opinion I think Dale Hollow is the most beautiful.

In June near the dam in the early morning striper bite is pretty good.

Never fished Cherokee Lake and not familiar with it. I'd like to hear other angler's thought on it myself.

I mainly focus on stripers and hybrids, have gotten a few smallmouth. Douglas lake is also nearby and I know of quite a few big largemouth and blue cats.

Yes, fished Douglas Lake and did well with some
3 and 4 lb largemouth. Only had 1 day so didn't get to explore the whole lake.
