Hi Stagers,
It's going to be a challenge for us Northerners tonight and tomorrow if you have to venture out tomorrow. Not sure how this will affect those of you more south. We're having a strange 24-36 hour plus cold slap. By tomorrow morning it will be -7 with a wind chill of -20.

What are you expecting tonight and tomorrow where you are? Stay in if you can and be safe and warm.

It's going to hit us in NC the problem with us in the South is the water line break's and power grid outage. We haven't gotten any snow yet, we tend to get hit hardest in March. Just when you're ready to get the boat out freezing rain, sleet and snow will change everything!

Pass shooting Canada geese in the salt marsh flying between a refuge and golf course. Didn’t shoot any yet this season. Caught and released one by hand on a lake.

Wow...you have some pretty quick reflexes there NJ! They can be a very ornery critter!

It's 9 degrees here in Traverse City, MI and I'm headed out to shovel snow from last night...just a few inches of lake effect flakes but it was very windy so some small drifts have formed. Headed out in a few hours to join a retired Coast Guard friend on a mid day snowmobiling ride locally. It's Friday so a lunch stop will most likely be my favorite diner in South Boardman...the Yankee Boy...serving up a delicious cod platter!

It looked like it was dying from bird flu. I took pics, put it alongside a trail, then emailed animal control.

6 degrees ambient temperature this evening in mid-town Manhattan. Colder in the suburbs north and west of the city. With the blustery winds just be careful!

That was very thoughtful of you! I'm sure if that goose spoke any English it would have said..."Thank you!"

Despite the cold temps (around 10 degrees), a buddy and I managed to get some fun snowmobiling miles in this afternoon. The primary objective was to reach a favored restaurant for their Friday fish fry. Mission accomplished!
I no longer can do the AYCE approach...so 3 pieces with the usual sides and trimmings was sufficient!

Plenty of logging operations going on these days within our 400 square mile riding zone lately. The cutters usually stack up the timber in open ended piles, but this was something new to me...using existing trees to hold them up and keep the logs from rolling out of control while handling them for loading onto trucks. I've seen this in peoples rural yards with fire wood, but not during a logging operation. I thought it was a nifty idea!

Pass the tarter sauce please!
Pass the tarter sauce please!...

Now that's what I'd call a well organized lumbering operation!

A lot of those don't look to be big enough to mill for lumber. Maybe we're just too far away to see the actual size though.
