Using a dropline off a three way swivel and keeping leaders tangle free use surgical tube on both leaders at the swivel also marsh mellows work well for keeping bait off the bottom

like to see a picture as I understand it is like a typical wire spreader using tubing instead of wire. what do you use it for I'm thinking with marshmallows it is for trout? is this for dock or boat fishing or can this rug be casted without tangling. thanks for the post

Curious as well here. I have used "wire spreaders" when trolling, but rarely have two "baits" to keep separate, when casting. I use 3-ways (t-type, don't even understand the need/use of the other type, splayed equilaterally) when bobber-dogging, using the right angle one for whatever weight I'm using.
Always appreciate others sharing their "rig set-ups". Even after living and fishing and studying in Oregon for 38 years, I am still learning various salmonid techniques each and every year. Kinda what keeps me going in my pursuit.

(And, of course, the rationale behind continuing to acquire new gear....despite the fact that I have way more gear than truly necessary, from MOST people's point of view....but hey, I still have some "empty spots" in my rod racks and a few vacant slots in my plethora of boxes and bags...lol)

Would love to see a picture of exactly how you are using the tubing, TIA.

Don't take this wrong, but if you don't have a bunch of containers marked extra and a stake of rods in the corner of your room that don't fit on your 2 or three rod racks, your just getting started. . I can't even guess how many kids I have set up with extra gear. Until the political (drug) strife in Mexico, I always took a bunch of extra gear to the kids in Mexico. A hand full of hooks, a spool of cheap line, some split shot and a mini jig or two would set kids up in the bait business or provide their family with a few meals and bring smiles from ear to ear. Nearly all good fishermen collect gear, whether they plan on it or not, even those that actually fish with only a pocket full of gear and a single rod.

Well, lol, hardly "just getting started". Been acquiring fishing gear since my first bamboo pole at age 3...about 66 years ago !
You are most welcome to call me "anal retentive" or just plain old "semi-organized"...but, would never allow my gear to be "in containers" or piled in a corner.
I chuckle at your assumption that I have "2 or 3" rod racks.....I have 6....and half-a-dozen+ hard cases with "special rods", that won't fit in my racks....yeah, those are leaning in a corner...got some 4"PVC pipe awhile back, that I have yet to make into a 7th rack...it'll happen.
All but one hold 16, the other is a sweet 'Goodwill find' (a pool hall cue holder that I customized), that holds 24 in edge slots, plus ~8-10 fly rod tubes in the center of the 22"x22" rotating rack.
One rack is full with combos that are my "don't realistically need" stock and therefore is the one that is presented to newbies or visitors that I am taking fishing, often for their first time.
I tell them to pick one they like (often chosen because the colors of the rod and reel match...hehehe) to "use for the day".
Depending upon how the day goes and my perception of their interest in the sport, more often than not, they are told to "hang on to it, and here's a little box with some of the gear you'll need for your next outing, with or without me."
The look on their face when I say that, is all I need, to know that I just pleased TWO people.
Just as I am more than pleased when they catch their first trout, or at the end of the day...they caught the biggest or most.
I have given rods to Cub Scouts, a church camp, old guys I've met at a campground, somebody's BIL who's visiting.
Even took a guy out to my Forester (in which I ALWAYS have 1-3 "don't really need" combos, ready to go) to gift the father one, after helping him pick out a decent combo in Walmart for his kid.....observing that the father was not real savvy in the sport, but trying real hard to make his kid's birthday special by spending nearly his last dollar to fulfill the wish. After he picked one out, and was profusely thanking me, he intimated that "all I have to do now, is save enough to get a license, so I can use it". Well, we went right back into Walmart and I paid for his basic Oregon
license, which was $33 at the time.
He was in disbelief that an old guy, a complete stranger, would do this for him, and I had kind of a hard time convincing him that I didn't do this regularly at all, but that day, it just seemed to be what I was destined to do when we met together on that particular aisle.
And, more importantly, I assured him that, because I had no son nor any grandchildren (at the time) and had had more fun in that 45 minutes or so, I felt more blessed than he could ever imagine. We exchanged phone numbers and they went on their way. I don't know what happened to them, as I never got a call nor was able to reach him on the # he gave. The kid would likely have graduated from H.S., by now, and I haven't repeated the act since. Not because I don't have the funds or feel "taken"....I certainly don't. The opportunity just hasn't presented itself to me....I am certain it will again, someday.
A vast majority of my "collection" has been acquired at garage sales, pawn shops and some extremely low-cost "bundle offerings" off Craigslist. I cull the bundles into "good acquisition, I will likely use it", "great as a pass it on", "repairable" and "parts rods and reels".
Always have been pleased to be enjoying "the hunt", as well as have actually MADE money by flipping some for profit .....which I, of course, I use to buy more ! As much a part of "my fishing habit" (addiction ?) as my several boats and....actually going fishing !
I make absolutely no apologies. I am nearly 70, have a small amount of $ that I consider "disposable income" and the fact that I am enjoying retirement far beyond what is/was expected.
I don't gamble, so my money is at least going towards something I can still hold in my (or someone else's) hand at the end of the day ....a most worthwhile pursuit, IMHO.

(And BTW....I haven't gone fishing with only "a pocket full of gear and a single rod", except when backpacking, since about 1965 !...yeah...I am one of those guys.)

PAYING IT FORWARD IS INCREDIBLY "LIFE AFFIRMING".........TRY IT, IF YOU ARE ABLE.

So why are you saying your not just getting started?

Well Bapa, you laid out a certain criteria that you said was your minimum for just getting started.
I didn't meet that criteria with buckets of rods and piles in the corner.

Just what was your confusion ?

Absolutely no confusion, just giving you a hard time. It is great to see you share fishing with others. Thank you for your positive approach. I figured you would see my response as facetious rather than taking it at face value.

Just an FYI, after 15 years as a full time professional guide, I have accumulated so much tackle both good and broken left deliberately and accidentally by clients that I am still sorting through it. I find it difficult to throw out tackle that I can work on in my free time then pass on to others not as fortunate as me. It sounds like you are on par, but ahead of me in the sorting process.
