I use a #14 gold treble hook from California with corn meal bait on 2 and 4 lb test line for park lake carping in NJ. I actually caught an 18 largemouth bass on the hook with no bait on it. Last year an 11” white perch hit the unbaited hook. I caught lots of fish on #14 gold treble hooks. They are great.

Yes the # 14 is a good size, not too small or not too big.
