A while back I posted about a disaster I encountered while fishing with my BIL in which I inadvertently broke 2 rods with a launched anchor while slamming on the brakes to avoid a deer. Broke an old Fenwick HMG and newerSt. Croix. Contacted both companies and explained it was all my fault as the anchor wasn’t properly secured. St. Croix didn’t respond but Fenwick told me to send them a picture of the break, model# and a photo of the entire rod along with the original receipt if it was still in my possession. Unbelievably, I had the receipt from 2003 in my gun cabinet
and sent it all in via email. 3 days later I received a new rod free of charge and get this, an apology that they were temporarily out of stock on that particular HMG model and instead sent me an elite upgrade. They’ve got my business for life. Their rods aren’t particularly inexpensive but are great bangs for the buck and backed by one heck of a warranty. 20 years old, broken by a bonehead move and yet still honored. I was blown away.

Love to hear stories like this. Congrats bk. Usually someone is getting the shaft by these big companies.

Love them NJ, have a few “higher end” rods but am more impressed with the Fenwicks.

That they did OJ, honoring a 20 year old rod broken by my dumb a$$ mistake…. hard to believe. And to top it off with an apology on sending me an upgraded model, hard to fathom.

Gotta agree Danger, in this day and age to receive that type of treatment I believe is extraordinarily rare.

Don’t own any but will definitely check them out for my next purchase. It’s about time for my next boneheaded move too. 😁 Been on quite a streak now without accidentally breaking one.

Good for you Four, just recently “altered” another rod while shutting the truck door. It was originally 8’6” but is now down to about 7’8. Put a new tip top guide on it and actually like it better at this length, a fortuitous mistake that worked out.

You got that right Gordon, pretty nice rods for the money backed by extraordinary customer service.
