I've had it in Australia. Thought it was decent. Beef like. Uncle who was there in WW 2 said they would shoot them, bring to the chow hall as an alternative to the usual mutton.
I remember having BBQ coon and Oppossim when I was in college, 40 years ago. The coon was very good and the Oppossim was a bit greasy but good.
I have a thread on this forem called " How to book" I'm putting together a book Sportsmen's Recipes By Sportsmen I would love to get some recipes for raccoon and Oppossim that you have personaly tried. I will of course give full credit to the author.
I had moose stew and cornbread
You guys are making me hungry 😋
Made a pot of Ham, cabbage, and potatoes last night for dinner..

My grandmother told me during the WW2 day's my grandpa and his brothers were hired to cull over stocked cattle, dig huge trenches to bury them. They were tempted to sneak out and cut a leg off but it would be a very risky prison time, grandma said, grandpa shot and dressed what he told her and two kids it was a prairie chicken. Grandma cooked it, mashed potatoes and gravy, they gave thanks for the food. Grandma said, she found out later it was Owl 🦉 don't say what you won't eat, be thankful you're not eating owl 🦉
Well at least it wasn't rat 🙄
