@PapaJack
Practice makes perfect.
Good advice.
I’m doing the same, changing different pound line, lures etc.

Nice evening catch Jack. Lots of fun there, thanks for sharing.
those ponds look to be in great shape, may I ask what's in them? Ours have bream and flathead catfish (which was a HUGE mistake, throw flats into your pond it doesn't matter How much bait fish are there pretty damned soon all you have are flats. Which is fine I guess, but it sucks paying 1,000 dollars every spring to put bream into the ponds only to know 95% plus are going to end up as kitty food)

We stocked the larger pond with Bream the first year after its construction. Following year Largemouth bass (not sure what type) and Grass Carp.
We wait a year before stocking with bass to give the Bream a chance to get establish.
The small ponds have been here for a long time before us.
All three ponds have Largemouth, Carp and Pearch. Don’t know how Pearch got into the big pond that we made.
I’ve seen the carp in the two small ponds swimming along the dam. Three feet at lease!

What, you don't own any pliers?
🤔 🤔 Prospect to Quitman. I think the roads twixt hither and yon offer alternative routes that would include driving across a lake I know you've heard of. 😜 Only adds an hour and a half to your trip. Just sayin. We don't have crabs here, well some people do 😳, but we do have some great fresh lobster. Wait, no we don't. Funny how y'all are blessed with a billion seafood places, all fresh, and you won't find a single place around here that offers delicious crappie or black bass. Oh, one place has a "walleye" special on Fridays. I've had it twice, 1st time and last time. Rather eat a hot dog.
I digress.
If any or all of you'ns find yourselves anywhere near Table Rock, please let me know so I can shake your hands.
And, yes, the pond pics bring back lotsa good memories. Even poop on my shoes was ok when bass were about.
Love it!!! I haven't fished a pond in a while. I used to fish smaller creeks and private ponds almost 50 years ago up in Shasta County and there about. Then I found several seldom fished really small ponds in San Mateo County. As many of you know, that is Bay Area and South Bay, I was amazed by these very hard to find and very small ponds. They didn't contain many big fish but lots of little ones...lol
I love pond fishing and of course all catch and release.... I am so glad to see you enjoying them!!!! Thanks for photos and sharing!!!
Catching fish has slowed down on my farm ponds.
Weather is probably the cause.
I still try every day no matter if it’s raining or windy. It doesn’t take much to get out there and toss some lures.
What to toss is the question?
Anyone got any recommendations?
Hey Cap'n! My longtime fishmate who loves out in OKC caught a ton of nice bass and a couple of crappie this past Sunday. This is a true farm pond, muddy banks, sippin cows, no cover, about 3 acres. Caught em on my favorite crankbait, a little Berkley crawdad pattern, about 6-8' deep. Hope this helps!
