So I had not fished for 25 years. Raising kids as a single dad, changing jobs, taking over a dieing job and turning it into an extremely profitable enterprise. I finally retired, and now I can send kids home to their parents when I have had enough questions and sticky fingers for one day. Took a couple of years to actually appreciate the freedom, and then decided to get back into fishing. My how things like reels, poles, baits and techniques have changed in the intervening years. Fortunately I stumbled on the Stage while looking for tips on hot spots and gear. Here I have met new friends that took pity on an old semi-experienced fisherman without a clue, or boat. Since coming here I've struck up acquaintences with a Striper Whisperer (Steve), a newly elevated Striper guru (Ben), and a crab crazed character (Denny) that lightens my time spent with him with his humor and joy being out hunting for the sometimes elusive dunginess crab. The knowledge, and sometimes patience at my fumbling (Ben) have really helped me make that transition from a retired lump to engaged geezer.
I've watched exchanges happen here that have resulted in folks opening their arms to new and old fishermen/women alike. What a great community of very different folks with a common love of fishing.
I feel blessed, and wish all of the stagers here a heartfelt Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, and may you have tight lines in the coming coming year.
Very well said Nook. I agree with you. It has been very great.

Merry Christmas Nook. FS kept popping up on my phone. Being one that had no interest in social media I ignored it several times. Finally I hit the button. I haven't looked back. It's been a fun yr. The fellows I've met in person. The ones I talk to that I'd like to meet. Yep it's been fun riding this stage. Merry Christmas to all πππ€

We're glad to have you here Nook. I feel the same way about this wonderful group of people, that I stumbled upon almost 3yrs ago. I've learned a ton about fishing around the country, made a bunch of "best friends I never met" and got to meet and fish with a great group of guys. I'm looking forward to expanding that number exponentially again next year.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Nook and everyone on The Stage!

You said it all, Nook. Iβve learned a lot from the crew here, and had a lot of laughs along the way. Although Iβve yet to meet anyone in person, it feels like the stage is a place full of dear friends. Wishing you and all our fellow fisherfolk the best of everything in the new year. Cheers! π»
