Anyone know anything about dishwasher repair it quit working today we turn it on and all the lights come on shut the door and nothing happens my guess is the door switch is out dishwasher is not worth a service call so will just throw it out

Maybe so. Mine did something similar and I ordered the part and changed it and it worked. The switch had two interlocks. One to tell it the door was closed and the other to send power to the control board. What manufacturer and model number do you have? There easy to replace.

Remove the switch and splice the wires together, did that on the wifes washing machine !

Tell you my latest experience a month ago. So Our dishwasher worked fine in every way except one. It did not heat the water. Oh I ran the tap in the sink to get hot water up to the dishwasher but that wasn't enough to get the dishes nice and hot inside, so with delays and everything going on, my wife just washed the dishes the old fashioned way and figured it best to just buy a new one, I guess +- $1000! I didn't want that. Our machine looked good and we had taken care of it it did everything right except heating the water. So we went for 2 or 3 months. Wife figured we would have to pay a steep price just to get the repair guy out after a 3 or 4 week wait time, but what if he couldn't fix it, then we would be out repair fees plus a new one cost and installation. Anyway she finally agreed with me and we called a repairman and 2 to 3 weeks later he got out. He said during one of the power outages or something the computer inside got changed and he put in his secret magic code into the Elex and Walla it was fixed. Wouldn't tell me what that special code he entered was, but it is back working flawlessly. It cost me $195 and change. That's my story.

There’s supposed to be a micro-switch that the latch contacts and operates. If your latch is working and the door closes and locks, check this. Link below. If yours is as old as you say, the plunger on the switch probably is broken.
