• If socialism is so good and capitalism is so bad…then why aren’t the caravans heading to Venezuela?

That last is funny. Unfortunately it's also true.
People head to America from everywhere on the globe no matter who votes for who. No matter who is in office. It never changes regardless of the doom and gloom attitude. Where are all of your relatives from? Can anyone in America truly say none of my relatives ever migrated to this great country? Some can. I know all my relatives migrated here from 4 different regions but I am just as much of human today as they were when they seeked a better life for whatever reason. Most of America's inhabitants originally came here to get away from dictators and religion.

I don’t usually enter into these threads but I just gotta this time. Quite a long time ago I was taken aback by a statement from Rome that it was the government’s responsibility to take care of the poor. Not just our government but around the world. Bringing it “home” I read the Constitution and the Gospel. I could not find any reference in either place where it was stated that it was the government’s responsibility. What I did come up with was from the Gospels. It is the responsibility of the “Church” to take care of the poor. The “Church” being the followers of the Gospel. In making that statement and in repeating it over the years the Church as an organization has abdicated its responsibility. Now we are being bombarded by calls for
“Free” healthcare, “Free” food, “Free” housing and on and on but none of that is free. Somebody has to pay for it. Doctors don’t work for free. Farmers don’t work for free. Property owners don’t build or maintain for free. In Genesis when Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden one of their “punishments” was that they would “WORK” and by the sweat of their brow they would live. It seems to me that as a society those who have been fortunate enough to amass great quantities are those who have abdicated their responsibility just as the “Church” has. There are many exceptions of course but in general, again in my opinion, the pursuit of happiness has also superseded the responsibility of caring for the widow and the orphan. It is all messed up!!!

I agree Wolf.
The financially affluent should share but we all know how they are. Tithing way back in the story book days ( I think ) meant if you were a baker and had 11 loaves of bread in a horse drawn carriage you shared 1 or 2 of them with the needy. Giving a bunch of money to a church is all good for the rich but I see the money going to people paid by the church not the needy. I agree 100% with your statement though Wolfman.

not away from religion but to a place they could practice their religion as they wanted to or not at all. freedom of religion not freedom from religion

socialism sounds good for those who don't want to provide for themselves, don't want to think for themselves and just want to exist not Excell. it is like the difference between being caged bird vs a bird living free in the wild.

I agree 100% Jeremy, everyone should have the right to better themselves. The problem is the system,we can't just open the gates & let everyone in...there needs to be some kind of organization where we don't end up being a third world country. IMO

I would agree with one caveat no one has the right to better themselves at the expense of another

I don't have a problem with immigration if you wait your turn, apply and do it legally and not just hop the border and expect U.S. citizens to pay for all of your needs. We have plenty of veterans and senior citizens living in poverty that should be taken care of before others that are here illegally.
