Wawawai sounds like it should be in Hawaii, of course I know there isn't salmon or steelhead there, thats why I live here in the PNW.

The Wawawai I know about is along the Snake River above Lower Granite Dam.

Closer to Colfax and Pullman. Nice paved road all the way to Lewiston, Idaho. Great boat launch spots along the way and overnight pull-outs. I miss the summer small mouth bass fishing.

You are correct.

And -- the camping, restrooms, fishing and launches are free. It's kind of cold there right now.

I’ve seen the Snake River frozen shore to shore at Wawawie. Last ship’s wake heading to Lewiston etched. And then arrived a car load of marry WSU students. One sport decided to carry a 10 pound rock about 200 feet out onto the ice.
He gleefully tried to smash it in between his feet. If he was successful the current could pull the idiot under. I don’t know if the gene pool suddenly became shallower- I left shaking my head.

If he had succeeded it would have raised the gpa curve in his class.
