After 50 plus years of working i decided to call it quits!!! I live in Clackamas County Oregon and want to spend some of my spare time fishing and need to know what the Salmon and Steelhead runs are like now.

Welcome to retirement.
I can’t help you with fishing in your area, but stay tuned. Someone may have the knowledge you’re seeking.
Welcome to the stage. We love pictures.

I’m not far from you at all. I’m sure there are some Steelhead to hook. I will figure most Salmon are don for this Calendar year.

Winter steelhead season is just getting started for most coastal rivers. The Clackamas has steelhead but I'm not sure about the winter run. The Nehalem, Klaskinine, Necanicum, and Wilson rivers could be options for winter steelhead. Salmon are over for your area for now but are soon to start running again up the Columbia and by April and May will start running on the coastal rivers.
I live in Bay City, Oregon, over by Tillamook. Not to far away from where you are. There are several steelhead streams and rivers in your area and in my area there are too. Nestucca river is great, Wilson river is very good, Salmon river and more. I believe the North Fork Nehalem also has a hatchery run but the main stem does not. Over on highway thirty there is Gnat creek and a few more that are very good.
Salmon fishing this year was not that good regarding Chinook in our area as we have traditionally relied on wild chinook and could keep them, so the local hatcheries did not put out that many hatchery fin clipped fish. So the wild chinook fishery was shut down in the bays which curtailed a lot of fishing. You could still keep them in the ocean though so it wasn't a complete failure. Next year, who knows what it will look like. Expectations are that we will be able to again keep wild chinook inside. Bay's here are an easy fishery. Suggestion would be to go with some guides a few times. I would recommend John Bowles in Garibaldi and also Big Dave's guide service as well, he is an expert in upper bay fishing and a renowned fisherman. John concentrates on the lower bay and the ocean. Good luck.
If you do go with either guide, please let them know I referred you to them. Thanks, Steve Smith

Since you are near Eagle Creek drive down to Bonnie Lure Park or Eagle Creek Park, the guys fishing there would be happy to let you know how things are. Also the Clackamas at McCiver Park, there is a trail out of the parking lot near the hatchery.
Late run native Coho are running up the Clack.
Anyone know if Steelhead are running on the Molalla River yet?
