Well guys day 1 was pretty much a wash after the drive up we only had about 4 hours of fishing. The end on the lake we are staying is turning over so it was tough only had 2 small fish but we found clean water just before dark. Today we ran back up to that area and had a pretty good day. We landed 12, 6 each and I lost 4 2 on the jump one wrapped around a tree limb and got off just as I reached for it and 1 break off, that happens sometimes with 4 pound test. the biggest my partner got was 4.6 my biggest today was 3.9 and the rest in the 2 pound range. We'll be headed right back there tomorrow so maybe we'll get on a few more. I'm having a hard time getting pics to download but will post just as soon as I can get er done. So far a great trip, nice cabin with a view of the lake we saw 5 or 6 bald Eagles today and one chirping at us from the tree tops.

Sounds like you have the area figured out Mike. Good luck tomorrow. It sounds like you're catching them all on the Tightline rod, is your buddy using the same set-up?

Fred, Yes it is the 7'6" medium action with an extra fast tip. I built him the rod out and this is the first time he used it. The first fish he caught on it was just over 3 pounds and he fell in love with it. then he caught the 4 pounder and said the rod does most of the work. It is so much fun to catch em on that rig. Now if our water temps would get on down they would really turn on it was 57* today

Day 3 was a bust, skunked, pitiful, not one bite. We fished the same areas and many others and the fish just didn't cooperate today. still trying to get a couple pics loaded but the phone service here is terrible. Loading up in the morning heading back to Tim's Ford, maybe I'll find a few willing bass to catch there and get the pics uploaded.

Sorry to hear that, they're probably out Christmas shopping. I went to Watts Bar crappie fishing today and we only got eight. Figured we'd load the boat today.
Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year.

Crappie have been slow on Tims this year too, seems like they're catching more on deep brush piles than docks. They started late and don't seem to be in their usual spot for us. good luck in the future maybe they'll pick up soon for both of us..

Off subject, kinda. General fyi: I learned today that the local lakes are discharging and dropping lakes to levels that interfere with the crappie spawning areas. Resulting in less numbers across the board. I'm sure that's not the reasoning but more of an incidental consequence. I'll look further into this and post as I learn more.
I haven't caught any outta the lakes here except for the TN River impoundment s. The spotted bass seem to be a nuisance fish on lakes and fishers are encouraged to harvest all they catch. I'm sure they feed on fry as they are aggressive and foracious (?).
We should all research our area lakes to see if maybe there's a pattern or ?
Tight lines

A few years ago when I was back in Texas we went fishin at a lake that they had just lifted the limit of Spotted Bass. Wonder if it has anything to do with what you're talkin bout.
