when my grand kids were young I got a 16' pontoon, great and the wife loved it.

Upon sober reflection... YOU'RE RIGHT! The ban is only on carbureted 2-strokes, direct fuel injection is still OK there. I know of three other lakes in California that restrict 2-strokes, but I have no idea about what's happening in other states.

I suspect that this isn't just a simple limited ban, I won't be surprised if it becomes a movement. As our leaders get more and more 'environmental', I'd expect more and more limitations to be placed on our beloved 2-strokes. As California obsesses over electric vehicles, it's probably just a matter of time until boats get swept up in the mania.

You have a nice boat Barny. Its the perfect type for him if you ask me. My buddies have deep v but I am happier in my 1968 tri hull. Thanks again for taking Justoldjim and I.
We had a fine day on Clear Lake, Jeremy. You and I are completely opposite in our political views, but fishing is stronger than that. I'll fish with you anytime!

Way off base to say you'll be "checking his man card" if you "let" your wife specify how much $$ and what amenities on a boat purchase. My Kansas City buddy bought a gulf-side place in Florida as a second home. It's on a canal with access to the ocean, and they like to scuba dive, so Steve thought a really super nice boat would be something in the $75k-$100k range (retired from the oil biz, so no real money issues). Got the wife involved in the shopping and final decision.
....spent $158,000 for a 28' beauty........ but she loves the sundeck, the galley, and the head.... hehehe.

There you go, let them be part of it and......Surprise!
I would look for a used tritoon as they are super stable and hold their value better than most boats. My friend has a 20 footer with a 150 IO and it will do about 40 and is easy on fuel.

A lot of people have no idea how much weight they add to their trailer or what ever they are towing
I started working on a Farm when I was 13. There I learned to hook up a rig and give the tow, a go. If you couldn't move it you found a bigger tow vehicle. Never have had much use for tow weights, tounge weights or any other such nonsense. I wonder if that's why people look at me funny when I'm towing my boat with my Honda 350?
With a wife, a windshield is very important
It goes along with closing the toilet seat and picking up your underwear
add 2 feet to it
Great Idea
For overall safety it is hard to beat a Boston Whaler.

I agree about fishing buddy. I will never understand why some people let that other topic ( p-word ) divide them. I agree Barny. I will be honest ( as you know ) I am 100% redneck but not on the P-word. '
Let's fish sir. I will be going on a trip south of Oregon and East of here in Spring and summer. I thing a stager will be headed north in March. We are hoping to have more fish with us.
One of the reasons my P-word stuff is how it is ....is from my education and career in Environmental Science Field.
I really don't know why some people that don't have much education say so much about what they don't know...but whatever floats your boat.
I know your a very intelligent person and know what your talking about. It was cool talking to you about your Military stuff and your carreer.

Egghead was telling me about something that makes total sense on this topic. Dissolved Carbon Monoxide in waterbodies is another part of the equation. I worked in Automotive Field right out of High School. A service Manager once told me " you should of seen the smog here in 1970". That stuck with me. Heart Disease from CO and Cancer from Hydrocarbons is a lot of the reasoning behind Air Quality goals.

I know it's changing for sure. I will figure this is kind of utilizing the honor system. So a guy can get Direct Injection stickers to add to their old 2 cycles?
:) :)

I love old Boat motors too buddy. It's really funny to hear the comments from my buddies that know what my career in Oregon Air Quality was when I had old smoky 2 cycles on my boats. I am currently running a 1967 Bearcat55 4 cycle. It's getting challenging to get impellers though.
Often when I hear the sound of an old 2-stoke, I'm instantly transported back to the first time Dad let me take the tiller. That sound will be with me forever.

That's great, but about 3X, or more, the weight he's limited to by his tow vehicle.
