Avoided the skunk but it took some time. 48' w/ light west breeze. At the dam the near gate was pushing water but the fish didn't care. Threw small medium and large jigs of different colors and shapes. Tried shallow mid and deep retrieves. After 2 and half long hrs, finally got a hook up. Not big, but big enough to scare the stinker away. Tight lines

It took the stink away. Did you keep it? I hope that is not your line in the rocks by your feet.

In Texas, we call them white, or sand bass. That strain mixed with Stripers are what live in most fresh water lakes. Just Sayin...RJS

Fishing isn't about how many you catch. It's about avoiding the skunk

Naw! The reason each individual goes fishing is different. Some to get food, some to limit out forget the food, and others just to enjoy the outdoors, or such. In a hundred people there might be fifty or more reasons to go fishing! Just Sayin....RJS

If you are responding to me, it was meant as a joke. Getting skunked is just part of the experience. I doubt 1% of the fishing population has not been skunked.

I thought you were joking, no way you would say that and be serious. The use of the skunk seems to be very popular on here, must be a bad dream for some

The truth be told, I have had a few drives home where I was glad I was skunked. No fish to clean, just a O/S chair and a brew.
